Our brain can store about 1 TB (Terabyte) data. It is just like a bermuda triangle, you can fill in it everything without spilling over. It depends how judiciously we use it

EMOTIONS ARE ON SALE

The 21st century’s globalized interconnected world is the running in the race of supremacy. The world has become a clustered hub of desperate beings competing among each other for survivor. Every living creature whether sapiens, beast or nature is undergoing this rollercoaster ride of emotions and this very emotion is on sale.

Emotional Sale” might sound new but look closely and you will find a bunch of platforms where you can collect them free of cost or just at the cost of your Internet, TV or Media. This is not the usual sale where you can get profit but an arena where you can get your brain triggered to negativities and sadness amidst the added Covid-19 trauma. Today when the world is sailing and sinking together in the global loss of pandemic, some players are busy making money by this tragedy. While converting a loss into dividend is not always unwell-coming, it is here that this theory of profit making becomes worthless.

Start with the square box (television) kept in your living room which enables you to entertain yourself at any time. The shows on this box of wonder are filled with sadness, crime, horror and fear. The daily soaps are based on oppression and suppression while the reality shows are based on tear and struggle. The OTT platforms are no behind in showing themes like : destruction of universe, death of human conscience and meaningless value of life(SQUID GAME on Netflix). The rate of consumerism has risen to 4.1 billion in 2017 and will reach up to 4.36 by 2025 as per the global statistics. Thanx to the lockdown, slowdown and Work from Home Culture that has shoot up this rate. Amidst such high viewership one can imagine the level of emotional impact the globe can have from this trauma mongering.

Now switch the channel or switch of your miraculous box to reach the sofa of your living room and check out the next hot medium (newspaper). Print media, Online News media and TV Journalism is the biggest source of global news. They are filled with negative headlines and flashy phrases. Yellow journalism has become a global phenomenon. These eye catching headlines grab the attention but pose a disrupting social impact. Unknowingly you get used to of this emotional trap. This effects the day to day human behaviour, making the society more pessimistic in attitude.

A study conducted by two researchers of McGill University Canada asked people to pick up stories of their choice. The study found that participants often chose stories with a negative tone — corruption, set-backs, hypocrisy and so on — rather than neutral or positive stories. People who were more interested in current affairs and politics were particularly likely to choose the bad news.

Finally, coming to your beloved into your hand(mobile phone). While scrolling down your favourite social media app, make sure that you don’t get stuck over reading irrelevant debates, hate speeches and mobocracy. Social Media can be called as “reality show of internet” . Nothing is framed here. What you read, what you perceive is the truth of society. Surprisingly this global reflection shows nothing different than the above two. People are attracted towards vulnerabilities of others among whom, majority is glueing eyes and ears just for romanticization of the incident rather than empathy. Sharing personnel views on internet have become common as people are more connected to virtual reality today rather than their closed ones. There is no harm in expressing and sharing. It becomes alarming when sadness is liked more than happiness. There are instances of people committing suicide over live videos. Surprisingly no genuine effort comes to save the person except by a few, what comes immediately is the comment “what will happen next?” with thousands of likes.

Emotions are inbuilt traits. They depend upon our personnel circumstances and surroundings. It should not be derived from polarization. The current trend shows the daunting face of society. Why tears are more talked about than smile? Why a sad post with giving up approach is more viewed rather than a happy motivational post? Why the same person with a positive attitude to all the struggles in life is ignored and paid attention to, only if the story is portrayed in a tragic way? Why the news focuses on debt and losses but not recovery and faith? Why the viewers can’t sit for long to watch affirmative actions of society?

Human brain is just like an infinite well. You can feed anything and any length of data without fearing about its capacity. But it is as soft as a childhood. It can be reshaped and reframed as per our demands and needs. Feeding carcinogenic data will not shape it into a beautiful clay pottery. It is very important to insert an affirmative action into the brain so that the processor functions optimistically and delivers a hopeful outcome. Life is like a spider web. The unexpectedness and surprises make it no less than a thriller show. Try to enjoy the process rather than getting trapped by these shiny cover pages. Help the needy, cheer up the disheartened, hug the lonely, bring smile to the depressed, learn from motivators, respect the deserving but don’t be a trader of emotions.

“the world needs to be a master of their own thoughts and not slave of emotional sale.”
